Yournayati nayati: Is the remote waterproof?
Peter L: hey guys, I am debating between the silver or black editions. I don't need
the extra editing capability but the remote and superview would be nice.
It seems you can do most of the stuff on your phone app that you can do
with the remote. And for the remote to work, you need to leave the wifi
turned on which will drain your battery. Is that correct? I think I can
get a lot of good accessories for the $100 I would save with the silver
john micallef: GO PRO is and always will be the daddy of action cams..! i have a hero 2HD
ROLI cam. the go pro just kick ass..! but if you are a bit broke or low on
cash the roli is not bad.. and now days there are so many cams out there
but GO PRO will always be the best..!!!
Scott Lincoln: Dude, great vid. Very informative. RevZilla is up and coming!
radgiegadgie: Excellent comparison. Cheers!
ocharni: still unsure about the hero 3...lost my hero 2 when the mount broke and
despite the good picture quality the camera itself was buggy as hell. at
times it would just stop recording for no apparent reason. overheating also
was an issue.
currently looking into the garmin virb..got some pretty nice features and
it outperforms the gopro as far as image quality goes in low light as well
as extremely bright situations.
Shane S: I wanted to know the differences from silver to black edition and this
video was all I needed! Black Edition it is! Thanks for the info!
Miller Time: I guess I'm technology retarted since I have no idea what you are talking
about. ... You need slow down when you speak!!
GoPro sucks! Their slogan “The Worlds Most Versatile Camera” is a joke. I
have had four GoPro Hero 3, all have been defective and produce unusable
video. The following is a recent email from GoPro customer support
acknowledging that they are full aware that their product is defective.
“….Thank you for sending me that video. After reviewing the videos you have
submitted to us, speaking with our engineering contact and revisiting your
earlier cases we have concluded that the flickering you have seen present
in all of the cameras you have had is an effect of the camera adjusting to
dramatic light changes in the frame.
The reason this has been present in your replacements because it is a
behavior that will be present in any of our cameras. As the camera adjusts
to the dark fields of shadows and trees, the moderately lit blue sky, and
the bright white snow it is constantly adjusting to the amount of light in
the frame. The adjustment of the camera to these changes looks dramatic,
but the changes in the amount of light in the frame are dramatic.
Skiing on a sunny day unfortunately produces some of the most challenging
lighting changes of any activity and any conditions. I believe you would
not see this flickering in more stable light conditions with your camera.
This effect is more visible on the HERO3 White Edition, but it will be
present in any of our cameras especially in the conditions that you are
using them in….” GoPro Customer Support
I recommend not to waste your money or time on GoPro prodcuts. They may
have a very large marketing budget and were the one of the first players in
the action camera niche, however their product knowingly full of flaws.
motive: Awesome review !! Super solid !
Michael Weston: crapty battery life
Brandon Porhola: I like it!
offfuckfella: BRO, Do you even lift?
Itzholmes: I really don't think for an average Joe can't tell the diff between 11&12
mp. Also, I see that the contrast in the black is a bit in the plus side
BUT it is a bit sharper than the silver. So for an average Joe like me
spending that extra $100 and will never use those extra features ......
Nah. Give me silver please !
kaljuhyypio: Very good indeed, could you do Sony HDR-AS15?
cj09jr: Nice comparison and review....one of the best I've seen.
Steven Wyatt: Useful review, thanks. Does it support external power source, i.e. wire it
into the bike rather than battery?
kingofsteezyness: Which one do you think would work better for making freestyle skiing edits?
Callum au: you got it wrong, its actually 120fps in 1080 and 240fps in 720 on the
black and 60fps in 1080 and 120fps in 720 for the silver
SilviaSchool: Great review, thanks. Just bought the silver ed.
RevZilla: While the newer GoPros are several big steps forward in this regard, they
are still at an overall disadvantage for low-light conditions. They are
automatically adjusting your ISO as you shoot, so you'll end up with some
grainy footage if you force the ISO into overdrive with low light
conditions. Again, better than the last generation, but not great
recommendation if indoors or low-light is your primary use. -CK
mitchell2820: i love go pro!
RevZilla: The curvature was so slight on the Hero2, I can't imagine at high speeds
there will be a huge difference in water droplet migration between the 2
Drew Sherwood: I just purchased a silver and the remote is not included.
RevZilla: Awesome! Keep us posted on how you like it. We are very impressed with both
new versions. ~Ali
RevZilla: GoPro has a number of options that you can purchase separately, aside from
the 3M mounts and included hardware. I would recommend the Handlebar Mount
Kit or Suction Cup mount as excellent solutions. -CK
TheKyraPennington: Is this waterproof and what mount would you recommend for Wakeboarding??
john doe: man I had to watch this vid 3 times to keep up with wat this dude was
saying..you talk too fast...
RevZilla: Yes, there is an auto, but it can be overridden with the manual presets. -CK
Marcelo oow: both are waterproof? or not?
Vegan Daddy: Dude..just check amazon...like THOUSANDS of 1 stars...its a crap
boix....they havent worked out the bugs..yet know that Gopro fanboys, like
rockstar fanboys, and metal mulisha fanboys will just buy them no matter
what. Get the white...its best
Nacho Diablo: yes actually u can make really cool vids with even gopro hero 2 with sony
vegas or some othe editor. ofcourse it will never be as good as the black
but you can make awesome 1080p HD vids with the silver allso. if u have the
money, buy the black. if u dont, just go with silver or white or even the
hero2. they are all good atleast with some final editing =)
RevZilla: It all depends on what you are planning to use it for. If you are just
looking to record the ride and have some fun with the footage, the Silver
will do. If you have any professional aspirations or mad skills with Final
Cut Pro, I would spring for the Black. -CK
Luka Raskovic: Revzillatv do you have any problems with gopro , like freezing , not
recording etc ? I want to buy one but wont do it if it has problems
jjj5278: The silver version does NOT come w/ the remote. The remote only comes in
the package w/ the Black version.
alpinab14: wow listening to this review is amazing how technology is moving forward
and how far it has come even in the last few years, some really awesome
stuff out for 2013 the best yet by far
Kristofer Rose: I bought the Silver Edition and absolutely love it - perhaps one of my best
buys I've done. However on retrospect I think it really would have been
worth me splashing that little extra cash to get the Black Edition just for
that little bit better picture, resolution, Wi-Fi remote etc. I tried the
App to preview my recordings and it was quite laggy and slow to watch and
the the connection was only good for 20ft
WestAzProductions: black isnt like an $800 setup, theres no manual controls other than white
balance, and manual exposure is a must have for filmaking,
ChronicPain: F'n right on! I really liked that wording about "We are not Wal Mart. Where
you can throw us curve balls and expect us to eat the difference." I wish I
would have thought of that. Too F'n late. You get a High five from me. That
phrase is brilliant. F'n cheap ass loser customers. Yes I am bitter. Long
story. But simply an amazing phrase to say.
Uvula's channel: Thanks, good review. One question still, the new case has flat lens cover
(Hero 2 have round), so will water drops run off from it, at speeds? Thanks
yonidf99: I'm confused, what was you're issue with the 3?
BeardsmoreBoating: Does the silver come with the WiFi remote in the package?
RevZilla: You can't add unique pixels or increase frame rate with post-production
editing. Start with the best and edit as little as possible in my book. -CK
Christyl Alesna: can u suggest which one to buy between hero3 or 3+ black and silver? just
for an average user. im not a pro though. Thanks!
GoproFor Moto: Hello RevZillaTV, I was wondering if you could help me out with a question.
I want to get a Gopro to have when i do some extreme sports but manly to
put on my helmet when i go motorbike riding with friends, is it worth
getting the Black edition for the extra $100 or is the Silver edition good
for the job?
skaldajkl0: do you even lift?
Derek Wong: Would this make a good B-roll / second angle camera?
RevZilla: Give our Gear Geeks a call, we'll get you sorted out. -CK
Maxfield Iobst: I choose the silver because it may be more affordable. I will also be
easier to play in the field and it won't die. I will be buying a silver
thought because $300 is not as much too $400 means I need to save money (a
year). I need this soon so... Yeah
RevZilla: The extra features of the Black are definitely nice, but if you aren't in
need of the extra shooting options I'd stick with the Silver. With that
said, if you know your way around an SLR and basic photo editing, you'd
definitely be able to get a lot out of the Black. -CK
