reddog694uk: Mindless button pushing, how not to set up your radio folks !! Lol !!

Adam R: Ignore the negative comments. I own one of these radios on I'm going to buy at least one more. For $34 (amazon , ebay) you can get the radio, charger, headset and USB cable.

Its very well made and should probably cost 5 times more money or more. Some people that own ICOMS prefer to use this little radio.

Yes, you have to research a little bit in how to program it, but it's not hard. Download the CHIRP software to a PC, hook up the cable to the radio and type your frequencies in using your computer keyboard.

Buy a better antenna for $7, and this great radio gets even better.

Definitely worth trying it out.

You do need a ham license to avoid steep fines for getting caught transmitting on this.

Study for the test and pay the $15 for 10 year license.

Toby: you are not telling us crap, you are just pushing buttons

409shop409: +Branko Stoiljkovic You should check the law in your country whether it is legal to use this radio or not

409shop409: +Branko Stoiljkovic You should check the law in your country whether it is legal to use this radio or not

Branko Stoiljkovic: Can this work in Europe?

409shop409: +Michael Shaffer thanks

Michael Shaffer: Beautiful hands.......
Oh! and the radio looks nice too.

kvkkkvkk: hello , can this radio be used as point-to-point walkie talkie ? how far can it perform well & clear ?
do i really have to program it before use ?
i m now using midland gxt1000 , how u think when compared ? tks for reply ...

cheers ...

Tyranny Cox: there is a video here of a british man that takes u through the manual steps but he has a uk version radio things r not as hard for the american version as n uk version things r backwards up is down and setting squelch at 8 means about 2 in american version in uv5ra a stands for american all ur answers r  right here on youtube and there r at least 2 other sites that do  the manual steps.

Tyranny Cox: u can get license in usa to use GMRS. and For those who dont understand programming i hv 2 uv5ra ht s I used chirp. Then i found some things must be set manually anyway. There is a detailed description online with pics that takes u through step by step. Only one draw back i hv found. If u use different repeaters and they hv different tones u will find u must reset the  tones when u change repeater. I put my units on mobile antennas n window and im very happy with performance as good as a 400$ mobile rig.

mason maclean: Yes :) though I don't think you are supposed to lol I believe those are the American version of our UK PMR bands permitted to 0.5 Watt on FRS and up to 5 Watt GMRS I think they operate around 462MHz and 467MHz with 25kHz steps and reading up on ebay this radio does that ;)

David Bailey: Can this radio talk with FRS/GMRS radios?

Sasha Choutov: this was a waste of time. if you know what you are doing in am sure this is fun.

paul creger: I KNOW HOW TO PUT IT TOGETHER OMG. I NEED TO KNOW HOW TO PROGRAM IT ON THE COMPUTER AND YOUR SHOW DOESN'T SHOW IT...???

paul creger: tell it to me then, one step at a time??? I want to know what software and what steps to take to program the damned thing.. UV-5RA.

409shop409: do you use the correct version software?

paul creger: I don't understand when I get the message that says. at the verry end uploading the radio. it saids it not recognizing the settings. the firmware saids bfb 297!!! you know what the hell. you can't google it, how come there's no direction for the uv-5ra? but all the others have directions for them!!!!!!!!!!

Mikes1000Toys: For what? I send the radio back I'm not paying for a thing for a POS radio that can't be programmed .

409shop409: which step you don't understand?

scarydok: Back in 2002, a close friend of mine purchased an HS 2000 (Croation company) 9mm full size pistol for $275 out the door. Come to find out years later, Springfield Armory bought the rights to HS 2000. Now these are going for $425-$600. When recently purchasing my CCW handgun, I was torn between the now Springfield Armory XDs and the Taurus PT111 G2. Aside from the obvious single stack/double stack difference, these guns are quite comparable. In the end, I chose the Taurus, not only because of the rave reviews of it and the ability to have 4-5 more rounds (depending on which Springfield mag you use), but the PT111's $275 price tag ($325 with ammo and cleaning kit), that was my deciding factor. Even the XDs Essentials is retailing for $449 here in my area. I believe in capitalism, but I compare what Springfield Armory to ticket scalping (please forgive my politically incorrect wordage). SA is essentially buying a quality product and then selling it at double the price. I shame both SA and HS 2000 for this. HS 2000 had a quality product that, if they would have been patient, would have always been a Glock competitor, however, they didn't have enough faith in their product and patience, so they sold the rights to SA. Now, instead of making ALL of the profits, they are only making a percentage of the profits. Again, I do understand capitalism, but at the same time, I'm not an idiot and will not support a company that just re-brands products with their name and re-sells them at double the price. Any of you that disagree with me, think about this. Would you pay double the price for a Ford Mustand if Saline bought one and, without any changes to the vehicle, put their name on it? All SA is doing is re-branding a quality product and then reaping the rewards. Sorry for the rant, but it really gets under my skin.

Shadow Drifter: Is it just me, or the melee combat in general looks awfully slow compare to previous ACE games? Not just this unit, but many others.
UprightMike: Haven't beat 1:15 yet with my recumbent. The year i ran 1:15 with my upright (which had a partial fairing on it) I was in the best shape of my life. Top speeds on the track was about 34 mph during the Kilo. I reached 36.5 mph during a 200 meter sprint. I ran 1:18 this past year with my recumbent, that was after a 400 mile car drive, no warmup and just jumping on the track for the kilo.
BritishRail60062: Pop goes the cave! It actually felt like going into a cave when I went through Northampton on a coach back in 2003 on route to Derby. Being all in darkness is all I can remember about this bus station.
Adam Truszkowski: it's a commercial game, you have to buy it
